I just wanted to jot this down cause today's incident in church gave me a sense of achievement. this new girl joined our class today. She was really very shy and stood outside the class with her parents, refusing to come in. Her parents couldn't handle her despite her dad trying to persuade her to join the class and ease her anxiety. I noticed her mum was at the door so I went out and asked if they needed help. Seeing the little girl filled with anxiety, I tried talking to her and convincing her that the class was friendly and would definitely welcome her. I opened the door and got my partner to get the class to sing to show her how fun the class would be. With much persuasion, she finally said ok to sit in but she was still shy.

The lil ones had some craftwork to do after that and I tried getting her to sit with some of the kids but she refused and I didn't force her. When some of them finished, they came to talk to me so I asked them to make friends with her. They really were friendly and after some talking, she opened up a little and introduced herself and shook hands with some of them. It was really sweet to know that she slowly opened up despite still feeling shy and scared. But she really was a brave lil girl. And I'm glad I didn't give up initially when she didn't want to come in. At the end of the lesson, I felt happy and a sense of achievement. At the same time, I'm really proud and happy to have a group of lil darlings who could make a new kid slowly feel welcome. Really really proud of them! :D
